Sprinkler Sweating
Happy Kids, Healthy MOM
By ActiveWoMOM Kristin Neudorfer
Hello Summer! It’s hot, you’re busy and the kids need entertainment. We know it’s easy to let your workout fall through the cracks, so we’ve devised a plan to get you moving in a way that will delight the kids, entice some laughs, create memories as well as help you work up that ever-so-much needed sweat. Welcome to The Sweating Games, our incredibly fun installment that makes the entire family happy. For this session-o-fun, grab your suits and that sprinkler then head out back!
When temperatures peak, kids love burning off steam dodging, jumping and getting sprayed in the sprinkler. Instead of watching from afar, join in on the fun. With the following Sweating Games, you’re guaranteed an awesome workout without compromising bonding time.
Water Ski!
In water or downhill skiing fashion, jump that sprinkler like you would a wake one foot at a time or both side by side for some extra plyo action.
Great Crab Escape!
On all fours with your tummy tight and facing the sky, walk around the sprinkler with the kids and avoid getting sprayed.
Water Monster Revenge!
Play tag with your kids! One person is the dreaded Water Monster chasing the innocent civilians who must avoid both the monster and the water spray or they too will transform to Water Monsters as well… muahahahahaha.
Water Bridge!
Plank hold a safety ‘cove’ or bridge for your kids to stay dry in… how long can you keep them ‘safe’?
Sea Monkeys Explosion!
Span out around the sprinkler’s reach, when hit with the spray each person turns into a Sea Monkey and jumps as high as they can with crazy arms and monkey sounds – add some plyo to this game by squatting down and exploding into a jump repeatedly.
A few reps of these games and everyone will be ready for nap time, in no time. Now GO PLAY!

LOVE this post! I’ve been creative in my house cleaning time with my 10 month old, putting him in the hiking back pack and adding in squats, etc. so I like the idea of extending this to outdoor fun as he gets older too.
